Sunday Morning People Harrison Kennedy Invictus LS-9112, 1970
Sunday Morning People album cover

What's this? Another Northern Soul track in a soundtracks listing? Yes. Why? Because this is one of two tunes written by Holland-Dozier-Holland for Detroit 9000, that's why, and what's more, the flip side of this 45 includes an instrumental cut from Sidney Poitier's 'The Organisation'. And the music? Superb. Really heavy duty midtempo funky soul, with a righteous gospel edge and huge drums. Excellent, powerful stuff, and a cracking break or two to boot. The flip's no snoozer either, a good harmonica-funk theme. Recommended.

Overall Rating: 4
