Good Bye Emmanuelle Serge Gainsbourg Philips 6172 067, 1977
Good Bye Emmanuelle album cover

At last! The genuine Emmanuelle series (note the spelling) got someone good in to score their sleazy films. Gainsbourg must have recorded this at the same session as Madame Claude - the instrumentation, arrangements and musicians are almost identical. Don't expect a massive dancefloor tune - it's a blend of dub-pop and oddball French funky disco. We like it. Sleazy, cleanly produced, some lovely breathy smutty background vocals and of course Serge over the top. Listen before you buy - you might not like it. But we do. A lot.

Overall Rating: 4
