Chariots Of The Gods? Peter Thomas Sound Orchestra Polydor PD 6504, 1974
Chariots Of The Gods? album cover

Peter Thomas, veteran German soundtrack composer of scores such as Raumpatrouille (Space Commandos), wrote the music to accompany this documentary-based film. The film explores the possibility that early man's development could have been influenced by men from outer space. The liner notes state that '?his compelling arrangements? match the visual moods of the film'. In that case the film must have been dynamic, because the score has a driving, inquisitive feel underpinned by huge breakbeats in several tracks. An obscure album, some tracks later reissued on 'Talking Jazz 3', and well worth seeking out if your taste is for quirky easy listening style orchestral funk with strings, whirling percussion and wordless vocals..

Overall Rating: 4
