The essential soundtrack from the one movie of the short-lived Go-Go scene out of Washington in the early 1980s. Go-Go was 'the next big thing' in the 5 musical minutes before House took over. Go-Go was a refined, updated version of mid-tempo funk that emphasised live performance: concerts would often feature half-hour or longer jams fuelled by drums and percussion. All the big boys of Go-Go are featured on this great soundtrack:- Chuck Brown, Trouble Funk, EU, Redds And The Boys and more. Seeing as the genre is now largely forgotten, this is a bargain-bin classic and a great introduction to a fascinating form of funk. Some interesting electro-influenced tracks creep in too. The guaranteed floor-filler is Chuck Brown's massive 'We Need Money', but they're all good.
