It's not often that we get an opportunity to highlight a genuine new funk soundtrack discovery by a major film music composer. Courtesy of a tipoff from Tom, here's one of the final EPs released by the late, great Francois de Roubaix in the year of his death in a scuba diving accident. Possibly less well-known than his film work, this 45 is taken from a French astrology TV series featuring Elizabeth Teissier. The music is excellent - the main theme is a bizarre space-funk cut with synth, fat bass and drums, while the flip side is a spooky downtempo astrology funk vocal number with masses of sample potential. Sing along using the lyrics on the back of the sleeve. Fantastic and highly recommended - completely slept-on at the moment...
