Doucement Les Basses Claude Bolling Disc AZ SG 286, 1970
Doucement Les Basses album cover

Here's a really groovy little obscure French 45, from an Alain Delon movie by Jacques Deray. One of the reasons why we rate French funk so highly is that French artists aren't afraid of experimenting with different feels than the standard four-on-the-floor funk groove, and here's a good example. Check Happy Night for a big jerk Hammond dancefloor cut with a wicked groove - lovely!

Overall Rating: 4

Track listing:

Melodie du reve (Theme) | Generique Fin (Happy Night) |
